Dr. Alan J. Rechter, Orthopaedic Surgeon. Dr. Rechter is from Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and moved to Houston in 1994. He is married and has a son and daughter. He enjoys golf, tennis and surfing.
MEDICAL SPECIALIZATION & EDUCATION
Dr. Rechter practices general orthopaedics which encompasses all aspects of orthopaedic surgery. His focus is on fracture management, joint replacement surgery, sports medicine, arthritis treatment, care and prevention of osteoporosis, and surgery of the hand and foot.
In 1990, Dr. Rechter received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida, where he was a founding member of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity chapter. There he received numerous accolades and a scholarship for maintaining the highest grade point average for active fraternity members. In 1994, he graduated second in his class from Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, NE. He was recognized by Merck Pharmaceuticals, who gave awards to the top two ranked medical school graduates from each medical school in the country.
Dr. Rechter completed his training in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Texas in Houston after being Chief Resident for the 1998-1999 academic year. He received training from Hermann Hospital, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital, as well as other fine institutions in the Houston area. He received a prestigious AO International Fellowship in Germany, which affords focused training in the arts of trauma, hand and joint reconstructive surgery.
Dr. Rechter joined Orthopaedic Associates in 1999 and has staff privileges at Hermann Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital, the Foundation Surgical Hospital in Bellaire, and St. Christus Catherine's Hospital in Katy where he serves as Medical Director of Sports Medicine, Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery, and Chief of Staff. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedics at the University of Texas Medical School.
